Tescia “Tess” Seufferlein

FOUNDER

Tescia Seufferlein has been an artist, costume designer and costume painter for over 25 years. She worked as the head painter and studio manager at Jeff Fender Studio in Brooklyn, painting costumes for Broadway, the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, War Horse, Of Mice and Men, Aladdin and more. Working alongside legends like Ann Roth, Gregg Barnes, and Martin Pakledinaz.

She returned to California for her MFA in Textiles at CCA, deepening her practice into questions of materials, the body, and what it means to make something by hand in an age that's largely forgotten how.

Textiles & teaching

In 2015, Tess returned to California and earned her MFA in Textiles from California College of the Arts. The studio became a place to bring all of it together: the precision of costume painting, the softness of cloth, the wildness of color, and the deep intelligence of a communal making table.

Studio 26 is that synthesis: a maximalist creative salon in Oakland where classes, costumes, rituals, events, and happenings all become invitations to come back into the creative body.

There, she painted costumes for Broadway and large-scale performance worlds, including work connected to the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, War Horse, Of Mice and Men, and Aladdin, alongside costume designers including Ann Roth, Gregg Barnes, and Martin Pakledinaz.
